Recycling thermoset composite

Recycling is a major strategic focus in the plastics sector. It enables the development of a sustainable economy, aimed at reconciling the imperatives of growth and the protection of resources and the environment.

Contrary to popular belief, composites are recyclable and recoverable.

MCR has an industrial tool to recycle parts made from thermoset composite materials. This tool allows the parts to be ground down and to recover fiberglass either in powder form or in cut fiber form.

These recyclates are then used, for example, to reinforce concrete and road asphalt. They are used as fillers in new production processes.

The cement industry is already recognized by European authorities as a "material" recovery process: the fiber part (silica) and fillers enter the clinker, while the polymer part contributes to combustion.
